Claudia Sheinbaum's Approval Rises to 80% Amid Trump Defense

A recent poll shows Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum's approval rating increased to 80%. Key factors include her defense of Mexico against U.S. President Donald Trump and support for social programs, with significant backing from youth and homemakers.

The Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum, has seen her approval rating increase by three points to reach 80%, according to a survey conducted by the newspaper El Universal. This increase is mainly attributed to her firm stance in defense of Mexico against the new American president, Donald Trump.

The poll reveals that eight out of ten Mexicans support Sheinbaum's administration, marking her highest rating since she took office last October. Only 11% disapprove of her performance as president. According to the newspaper, young people and housewives show the most support, while individuals aged 46 to 59 and those with a university education are slightly more critical. Approval is higher in the southern region of the country.

Regarding Sheinbaum's most praised actions, 14% of respondents highlighted her defense against Donald Trump. Following this, support for the elderly, students and scholarships, as well as social programs in general, are also noted. 56% of the population believes that the country is on the right track, although 28% perceive a negative direction.

The president presented the survey results at her morning conference, calling it "a dedication to opponents and a thank you to the people." She emphasized that, despite the criticisms, public opinion values her ability to unite Mexicans. The survey was conducted in 1,000 households between February 13 and 18, with a margin of error of 3.53% and a confidence level of 95%.
